John Hodder our retiring General Manager has taken up the post of General Manager for PETNET Solutions in the Asia Pacific region. John will still be associated with the Australian PETNET Solutions group although no longer on a day to day basis.

The licence comes after months of intense and complex regulatory hurdles and audits undertaken to ensure the facility, its operating procedures and staff were intrinsically safe.
Surprise visit by International Atomic Energy Authority December, 2009
On 22 October, the PETNET Solutions team hosted a surprise visit from the International Atomic Energy Authority (IAEA).
While the main purpose of the IAEA visit was the ANSTO Opal Reactor, since PETNET Solutions is within the general precinct of the reactor, the facility was given a little surprise visit just to confirm the purpose of the facility was not in refining any Uranium or other transuranic elements.
On 27 November 2009, PETNET Solutions shipped its first commercial batch of F18 to the Radiopharmaceutical Research Institute (RRI). The Institute is dedicated to the development of both imaging and treatment radiopharmaceuticals and provides unique radionuclides for the clinical and research communities.
Green light from TGA paves way for production 5 October, 2009
PETNET Solutions is pleased to announce another significant milestone has been reached with the facility receiving regulatory approval to manufacture FDG under the code of Good Manufacturing Practice. This license is granted by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
This important announcement means PETNET Solutions is one of a limited number of companies with TGA approval for the manufacture of FDG in Australia.
Minister launches PETNET facility 22 September 2009
Senator the Hon Kim Carr officially opened the PETNET Solutions state-of-the-art radiopharmaceutical production centre in his role as Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research on Wednesday 5 August.
The occasion attracted over 80 guests including Ms Alison Megarrity MP, NSW Member for Menai, Lorraine Kelly, Mayor, Sutherland Shire Council, various notable members of the health and nuclear medicine community, ANSTO and PETNET Solutions board members, Siemens representatives, overseas representatives from PETNET including Brad Holmgren, PETNET Singapore and members of the press.
When John Hodder, PETNET Solutions General Manager, heard about 9 year old cancer survivor Jayde Bell he was immediately taken by her story.
Jayde started her own foundation, called Linking the Links, last year after being diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a malignant brain tumour, in September 2007.
Supply agreement signed for novel fluorine 18-labeled PET tracer 1 September 2009
PETNET Solutions in the USA has executed a supply agreement with Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc., a worldwide leader in diagnostic imaging, to provide BMS747158 for PET imaging of cardiac perfusion as part of the Phase II and Phase III trials.
Annual meeting highlights dominating role of PET 22 June 2009
The recent Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine 39th Annual Scientific meeting clearly demonstrated the growing and dominating role of PET imaging in nuclear medicine. The growth, uptake and significance of PET was highlighted by the volume and diversity of PET abstracts presented at ANZSNM. Of the 125 abstracts presented over 34 per cent (43 abstracts) specifically related to PET imaging. In the long-term, we are confident that such clinical interest and support will translate to an even wider uptake of this important technology by governments and the general medical community.
Recently, PETNET Quality Control and Production Chemists Rajeev Sheth and Laura Galbraith spent three weeks in nuclear medicine production facilities in Nottingham and Vienna. The trip provided an invaluable opportunity for both Laura and Rajeev to learn firsthand the FDG production and distribution process from highly skilled and experienced nuclear medicine colleagues from two very different production sites.
Meet Samuel Dent - Sam a country boy at heart grew up in Coonamble NSW. Sam joins PETNET Solutions as Production Team Leader. Sam previously worked with GMS Brisbane since 2006. He gained extensive experience in the production of PET radiopharmaceuticals and radiopharmacy operations in general.
Greater Availability of Important Biomarker 6 April 2009
A decision by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to approve a Siemens Molecular Imaging multicentre investigational new drug (IND) application for F-18-labeled 3'-deoxy-3'-fluorothymidine (FLT) could pave the way for wider availability of this important molecular biomarker.
Meet Glenn Fulbright - Glenn Fulbright joins the PETNET team as cyclotron engineer on 20 April. Glenn is an electronics engineer with a breadth of experience and has worked extensively with PLC controls and SCADA systems including 3 years with Siemens Eclipse at the PETNET facility in San Antonio, Texas.
Meet Jana Appleton - Local Sutherland resident Jana Appleton joined the PETNET production team in March as a Quality Control and Production Chemist. "I'm really excited about joining the PETNET team. I've always been interested in chemistry and pharmaceuticals so it's great to be able to work in this field," says Jana.
